Exposition Park Science School
Architect / Client - Morphosis
Completed - 2004
The landscape for the Exposition Park Science Center Elementary School compliments the bold architecture designed by Morphosis while respecting the master planning objectives of Exposition Park.
Bold drifts of drought tolerant plants cover the roofs above the classrooms, while a quarter acre Bamboo garden is located on a structure within the historic Armoury. Redwood and Oak trees flank the exterior to remind children of our native trees.
Technical expertise was needed in designing the planting systems to support both the planting on the roof and within the Armory. KSA worked closely with the architect on waterproofing, soil containment devices, soil type and depth, and irrigation methodology to ensure succesful planting.
